What NOT to Bring Across Borders

Fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats

Strict agricultural restrictions at all three borders

More than $10,000 USD in cash (undeclared)

Must be declared at customs β€” failure to do so is a crime

Cannabis/marijuana products

Illegal to cross ANY border with cannabis, even from legal states/provinces

Firearms and ammunition

Extremely strict laws, especially entering Mexico and Canada

Certain medications without prescriptions

Carry prescriptions for all medications; some common drugs are restricted

Cuban cigars (into the US)

Still subject to US trade embargo restrictions

Excessive alcohol or tobacco
